Meditations
Meditation has been one tool that has been immensely helpful in managing my stress and bring a sense of peacefulness to my daily life (when I make sure to do it daily!). Meditation is one of the pillars of my foundation that help keep me balanced- the others are dance, song, connection with family, and time outdoors. What practices are your foundation built upon?
Sacred Tree Meditation
This meditation was gifted to me from my indigenous ancestors in a vision during an outdoor listening meditation a few years ago and I was asked to share it in circles that I have facilitated over the last couple of years- now I would like to share it here. I recommend doing this meditation outside and preferably on the Earth, whether that's in a chair with your bare feet touching the Earth, or completely lying on the ground, perhaps under the trees...I hope it brings you into deeper connection with self and surroundings, and a knowing that you belong.

You Belong, You Are Worthy, Strong, and Beautiful
You belong
Like the living soil beneath your feet
Like the clouds in the sky
Like the thrasher singing a morning song
You belong

You are worthy of love
Like the ocean waves who cares the sandy shore
Like the hawk who chooses their mate for life
Like the sacred reciprocity between beings-to receive care and take care of
You are worthy of love

You are strong
Like the tree, who in winter lets go of their leaves so they may see another Spring
Like the flow of water, shaping soil and stone
Like the Earth who holds us as we walk along
You are strong

You are beautiful
Like a dew-filled spider web sparkling in the first rays of sunshine
Like a rainbow bringing joy to a gray, rainy day
Like a garden filled with butterflies softly landing on blooms beautiful
You are beautiful
