The lines blur for me and you.
You often seem as though you are more human than dog
Or maybe it's because you are the teacher, the one who lives life as an example of unconditional love
Something us humans strive to embody.
The way you love to snuggle and play, the way you bask in mutual affection and love a good, meaty meal
Sometimes I think I am not all human as well, part dog, down on all fours nuzzling necks together, imitating your bow before we play, and even playfully growling as you beg for food.
The lines blur for me and you, between me and you.
You've broken my heart wide open and placed a piece of your own heart there.
No words are needed between us.
You sometimes know me better than I know myself.
I am so grateful for your company, the time we've spent in love and silent wonder.
And now I care for you as your body slowly leaves this world. It is an honor.
As your eyes and ears slowly stop working, just as your heart.
I love you more deeply than I ever have, recalling the moments we've had together in all the stages of your life as well as mine.
A life well lived, I think.
I love you, my most loyal friend.
The pain I will endure when you leave is not regrettable. It has instead taught me how precious and beautiful life is.
My teacher, my friend. My Fluffy, Puffy, Real-Life Stuffy.
